Bamboo Toothbrush = An easy switchEvery year over a billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away worldwide, ending up in landfill, in the sea or washed up on a beach. Using a bamboo toothbrush with a biodegradable handle is a small change but together we can make a big difference.
We have tried and tested several different bamboo toothbrushes and these are our favourite. Once you try a bamboo toothbrush you won't go back to plastic.
'It scares me to think that every plastic toothbrush I have ever thrown away is still on our planet and will be for many years to come. My first plastic-free switch was to the Bamboo Truthbrush and I haven't looked back. It feels so much nicer than putting plastic in my mouth and knowing I am no longer adding to the thousands of plastic toothbrushes entering our oceans'. Colette @ Vera-Bee.
Beautiful, simple and practical design
The children's version of the truthbrush comes in White only but it has been designed so that you or your little one can write their initials on the paint-dipped area. You can also do this with the adult versions if two of you want the same colour. The painted end also protects your truthbrush from going mouldy in your holder.
You can also choose to add a Truthbrush Bamboo Holder (see the dropdown menu) which is naturally antibacterial and biodegradable. Perfect for when you are on your travels.
Your Truthbrush will be delivered to you hand-wrapped in tissue paper and protected in a recyclable cardboard pillow pack. Shipping to us by our suppliers, Truthbrush, is also carbon neutral to minimise any impact on the environment.
Disposing of your bamboo toothbrushIf you compost, great - remove the bristles or snap the head off and place the bamboo handle in your compost. If not, you can place the whole brush in your normal bin and all but the bristles will biodegrade into soil. I have used mine as plant canes. But you can use them for whatever you like. As paint stirrers, to clean those difficult to reach areas in your bathroom, as kids paintbrushes. Be creative!
Why castor oil bristles?
Truthbrush would love to find a genuine plastic-free, biodegradable alternative to nylon bristles. However, after extensive research, they realised that the only non-plastic alternative is boar bristles (pig hair), which would be unacceptable to many people. Therefore, Truthbrush currently use bristles which are 62% plant-based castor oil and 38% nylon, which means less petroleum-based plastic. We believe that a biodegradable handle with castor oil-based bristles is much better than a plastic toothbrush. Truthbrush are continually researching biodegradable bristles. It will happen, and we will be the first to let you know!
