Handmade in the Vera-Bee Hive, West Sussex
Lovingly handmade in the Vera-Bee Hive, our Baby Wipes are our earth-friendly and 100% plastic-free alternative to disposable baby wipes.
Use these washable baby wipes on bottoms and mucky faces and hands - anything you'd use a disposable wet wipe for.
They also make a great gift for expecting or new parents.
As soft as a baby's bottom
We made and tested various versions of these little beauties before we settled on this one. Both sides are made from 100% brushed cotton, one plain white side and the other patterned. We’ve used only the softest brushed cotton which is as gentle on your little one’s skin as a bunny’s tail.
How to use your Bee Pure Baby Wipes
NICE recommend that you only use water to clean your baby for at least the first six weeks of his/her life. You really don't need anything else.
Put a little warm water in a bowl, soak your plastic-free baby wipe, wring out, and it's ready for business. Want to keep them ready and to hand for those emergencies? No problem. Simply pour 250ml of water (for 7 wipes) into the bottom of an aluminium tin or old tupperware container and place your baby wipes inside. Once the bottom wipes are soaked, turn the pile of wipes over to soak the other half. Once all your wipes are soaked, you can tip out any excess water, and seal the container with a lid. They are now ready for action and will stay fresh for three days.
A few little tips for a tip-top bottom
When your baby reaches six weeks of age, and if you like, you can add two or three drops of essential oil for every 250ml of water to your reusable baby wipe container. We use Lavender, Chamomile, Mandarin or Rose Geranium essential oils with our own baby wipes at home. If you are using other essential oils, please check that they are safe to use on little ones beforehand. We also stock an Organic Nappy Wipe Water this makes a great gift for new parents.
"My oldest son has had very sensitive skin from birth and broke out in a rash if I so much as waved a disposable baby wipe near him - even the "sensitive" ones. So, I made my own to use with water and essential oils. And thus, the Bee Pure Baby Wipe was born. It's still the only thing I use on both my boys and they are now 5 and 7. For an extra moisturising and soothing wipe, I melt one teaspoon of organic coconut oil in a little boiling water and add to the water in my baby wipe container. This works wonders on babies bottoms as well as mucky faces as it's antibacterial and a great natural barrier cream too. And not a chemical nasty in sight". Charlie @ Vera-Bee.
Out and About
If you're on the go, simply put your required number of wipes into a container and pop in your bag. Wax Wraps and Wax Sandwich Bags work really well to keep reusable baby wipes fresh and moist on the move. It's the perfect size, plastic-free and waterproof.
How to wash your reusable baby wipes
As every parent knows, babies bottoms are pretty explosive. Baby-grows, blankets, the family pet, anything in the immediate vicinity, ends up covered in poo. And, you chuck all of it, besides the dog, in the wash, right? Our Bee Pure Baby Wipes are no different. Just pop them in your washing machine with the rest of your laundry on a normal cycle and they live to fight another day. You can wash them loose, but we like to keep them together in an old pillow case which we also keep handy to chuck any dirty wipes into.
Why use Bee Pure Baby Wipes?
Wet wipes are causing an environmental catastrophe. Did you know that the overwhelming majority of wet wipes, including all the top brands, are made from plastic? This means they don't break down. They either end up in landfill or flushed into our water systems. In the UK alone, we dispose of 11 billion of them each year! They are behind 93% of blockages in UK sewers. Furthermore, they are changing the shape of our rivers as they pile up on beds and banks.
We have designed our plastic-free Bee Pure Baby Wipes to be tough and durable as well as gentle. So, you can use them over and over again. Better yet, once their wiping days are over, you can throw them in your compost heap or put in the bin where they will naturally biodegrade. What’s not to love!
