ZAO Velvet Mascara is an intensely-pigmented mascara that provides density and structure with its innovative multi-length brush. Available in Black, Brown, Plum and Electric Blue, this mascara features intense colour pay-off. Enriched with organic lime blossom extract, argan oil and aloe vera gel to create a supple and enveloping texture, this mascara ensures a captivating gaze. Its multi-length silicone brush guarantees a good deposit of the product while structuring the eyelashes
Free from synthetic preservatives and chemicals, this mascara reduces the risk of redness and irritation to your eyes. Suitable for frequent use and even ideal for those with sensitive eyes and skin.

Although not completely plastic free, this ZAO mascara is refillable, you keep the bamboo case and refill the plastic bottle inside which comes with a new brush wand.
You can keep the brush wands to use as eyebrow or lash brushes. They are also used by wildlife organisations to help remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of animals. They work great because the bristles are so close together! It is always worth checking in your local area if there is an organisation near you that are in need of them before you recycle. Reuse. Re-purpose. Recycle.
This product, as with all ZAO products, is free from parabens (synthetic preservatives), using instead micronised silver as an effective and non-toxic preservative. ZAO does not use nanoparticles in their products, with the micronised silver being larger than nanoparticle size, making ZAO products safe and free from toxic preservatives.

How to use
First work the upper lashes, holding the brush horizontally closer to the root and then go up with a zigzag motion. Concentrate on the outer part to enlarge the eye or centre for a more open look.
Zao beauty tip: Mascara is the key item in your beauty kit, just a touch of mascara can work wonders! Some tips for a quick and easy beauty routine: before you put on mascara, always make sure your eyelashes are dry and free of cream or oil, then dust them with powder. This preparation will ensure your mascara won’t smudge and will last even longer. Open the mascara gently and in one movement. Avoid pumping the wand into the tube as this can dry mascaras out. Do not overload product onto the brush. If you do this by accident, gently remove any excess with a tissue and not at the opening of the tube. If you have a few drops of mascara on your skin after you’ve applied it, wait until it is dry, then gently remove with a cotton swab. If you are already wearing foundation, you can also dab a little on the cotton swab before removing the mascara to ensure your complexion remains even.

Organic lime blossom extract: This ingredient enables a protective film to form over the eyelashes, increasing hydration and boosting volume. The extract aids in restructuring and smoothing eyelashes.
Organic argan oil: Renowned for its nourishing, regenerating and restructuring properties and typically used on skin, face and hair, argan’s vitamin E-rich properties are beneficial for eyelashes.
Organic aloe vera gel: Known for its soothing virtues, organic aloe vera gel repairs and soothes the contours of the most delicate eyes.

About responsibly-sourced Palm Oil
Intensive cultivation of palm oil, mainly in Indonesia, leads to massive primary forest destruction in favour of palm plantations. Palm oil and ingredient complexes derived from palm oil are widely used in cosmetic products. Cosmetic industry uses many palm oil derivatives, more difficult to identify, because the word PALM does not appear in the ingredients list.
Zao products may contain palm oil derivatives but it is important to understand that it is difficult for us to exclude them as raw material suppliers do not offer other alternatives. We are forced to find ourselves in this situation. Nevertheless, we are trying to do our best by selecting only RSPO certified palm oil derivatives.
RSPO (Round table for Sustainable Palm Oil) is an association founded in 2004. It aims to promote the growth and use of palm oil that meets specific sustainability criteria at all levels: producers, traders, distributors, etc.
RSPO standard’s set of criteria are applied to all the steps of transformation of palm oil up to its selling. Its aim is to guarantee the traceability of sustainable palm oil, up to the final product.
RSPO certified palm oil shows companies commitment and also certifies sustainability.
