Why switch to plastic-free washing up?

It's a scary thought that in around 400 years the first piece of plastic ever made will have only just decomposed. By then, trillions of particles of plastic will be contaminating our planet.

Most household sponges are made from yellow polyurethane foam, topped with a green polyester ‘scrubby bit’. When you use them, tiny pieces of plastic are shed. These enter the water system via the sewers and spread through the environment. Environmental researchers are finding microplastics in seafood, salt, tapwater, honey and even on remote hillsides.

Using washing up products like those by EcoCoconut will reduce the levels of microplastics currently entering our water systems and environment.

How to use your Dish Washing Soap Bar

This dish soap is a concentrated bar and only a small amount is needed. Wet your cloth, sponge or brush and rub the dish soap until it’s soapy – then wash your dishes as normal. Only rub a small amount at a time. This soap does not produce bubbles like traditional washing up liquid, this is an effect that is not needed to give a good clean. See our video here on how to use.

To keep your soap in tip-top condition keep it dry in-between uses either by using a soap dish or a rack to store.
